Full Subsidy of Fee Protection Scheme Insurance, Medical Insurance and MIS Membership Fees

Singapore, 3 January 2011 –The Marketing Institute of Singapore Training Centre (MISBS) is kicking off the new year by expanding its slew of student benefits, boosting its existing student support services to bring greater value for all its part ‐ and full ‐ time students.

The new benefits include a full subsidy of the Fee Protection Scheme (FPS) Insurance Fee, Medical Insurance Fee as well as the Marketing Institute of Singapore (MIS) Membership Fee.

Fee Protection Scheme – Insurance & Medical Insurance Fees

In accordance with the Private Education Act that came into effect in December 2009, the FPS requires all students to be insured to protect their fees in the event a PEI is unable to continue operating due to insolvency, and/or regulatory closure. It is also mandatory for all EduTrust ‐ certified PEIs to purchase medical insurance coverage for all its students to cover them for hospitalisation and related medical treatment throughout their course duration.

The MISBS, an EduTrust ‐ certified PEI, is absorbing the full cost of both the fee protection and medical insurance fees for its students. The cost of the fee protection scheme insurance fee is 1% of the total course fee (eg, for a full ‐ time Bachelor programme costing S$14,000.00, FPS fee is S$140.00) or S$25.00 whichever is higher, while the cost of medical insurance fee is at S$43.00 per student.

The Marketing Institute of Singapore (MIS) Membership Fee

As part of the MISBS Constitution, all part ‐ and full ‐ time students of the MISBS are required to be Affiliate Members of the MIS. The MISBS is administering a full subsidy on all students’ membership fee at a cost of S$50.00 per student for a one ‐ time joining fee and S$50.00 per year per student in subscription.

Members of the Marketing Institute of Singapore enjoy exclusive privileges such as free access to professional development talks, heavily ‐ subsidised fees to attend networking events and Executive Development Programmes, as well as receive complimentary print and online publications and many other benefits.

“Attaining the 4 ‐ year EduTrust certification was a significant milestone for the MISBS in 2010, due in no small part to the support we have been receiving from all our students. In 2011, we are focusing our efforts on rewarding them by expanding our range of student benefits while at the same time keeping our course fees competitive. With these new initiatives in place, we hope to enhance the MIS experience for all our present and future students,” said Mr Jefrey Gomez, Acting Executive Director of the Marketing Institute of Singapore.

The MISBS was awarded the 4 ‐ year EduTrust certification in 2010. The certification differentiates the leading Private Education Institutes (PEIs) in Singapore as having achieved higher standards in key areas of management and provision of educational services.
